Pastor’s PerspectivePublished on December 2nd, 2011Dear Parishioners, It has begun! Here it is the second week of Advent, and we are off to a good start with our new prayers and responses at Mass. And, we have moved out of the Church. I want to say a word of thanks to all who assisted us with the move last week. A special big thank-you to Mike Conley who orchestrated all the activity. Last Monday, we had the first weekday Masses at Blessed Sacrament, and it was great to have Garry Pierce, our Parish Council chairperson, there to welcome everyone who came into Mass. Garry, thanks for such a thoughtful gesture. It will take us a little time to get used to the surroundings at Blessed Sacrament and at the Pastoral Center. I do want to remind you that we have a tabernacle there containing Our Lord’s Eucharistic presence. Therefore, I encourage you to maintain a spirit of reverence and prayer (genuflect, etc.) as you do when you come into Church. That will assist us to enter into the Mass with a prayerful disposition. Of course we have no kneelers in the basement so all may remain standing during the times we are accustomed to kneel. Our annual Christmas Open House will be held in the rectory on December 17th following the 5:00pm Mass. That is always such an enjoyable evening. I hope you will plan to join us. This is the week-end for nominations to the Parish Pastoral Council. If you would prefer to make your nominations via email, they must be in by 8:00am on Tuesday. Those nominated will be contacted and asked for their acceptance. The selection will take place on January 1st. Love, Fr. John |
